Installation Notes
Mount using the four-bolt pattern (4.25 × 8.75 in) in any orientation. While IP67 permits fully exposed mounting, positioning with natural air circulation improves thermal performance under sustained loads. Connect high-voltage input, 12V output, and 12V enable signal (to ignition switch or VCU). Fuse both HV input and 12V output circuits.

FAQs
How do I choose the right input voltage model?
Select the model whose input range fully covers your pack's operating voltage from lowest SOC to peak charge. For example, a 96V nominal pack (~80V–115V) fits the TDC-IY-108-12 (74–162V). A 350V Tesla-module pack fits the TDC-IY-320-12 (206–454V).
Can I run two converters in parallel for more power?
Yes. Each converter must have its own separate 6 AWG output cables (equal length) running individually to the load. Do not combine into a single cable before the load.
Is this converter waterproof?
Yes. IP67 — completely dust-tight and withstands temporary submersion to 1 meter for 30 minutes. Fully potted for vibration and shock resistance. Suitable for underbody, engine bay, and marine mounting.
Does it automatically charge my 12V auxiliary battery?
Yes. Connect the output directly to your 12V battery. The converter regulates at 14.0V and manages the charge state automatically — similar to a traditional alternator.
Does it need a fan or active cooling?
No. Passive cooling only. At 94% efficiency, heat output is ~60W at full load. Built-in thermal protection derates at 85°C and shuts down at 90°C with automatic recovery.
What does the CAN bus option do?
The optional CAN wiring allows enable/disable control via CAN commands (in addition to the 12V enable input). Useful for integration with a VCU or BMS. Default 250kbps, 500kbps on request.
What wire gauge for the 12V output?
6 AWG for a single converter at full 72A. Keep runs as short as practical. For parallel setups, each unit gets its own dedicated 6 AWG pair.
